Stronger fixation of dental implants

Dental implants are used to replace missing teeth. It is important that the implant is properly fixed in the bone, before the prosthesis, the tooth, is placed on top and function restored. This often takes as much as six months.

By Aspenberg and coworkers#, it was shown in a clinical pilot study, that dental implants with bisphosphonate had a stronger fixation to the bone at six months than the control implants. This indicates that with Zolidd, the time needed for the dental implant to achieve sufficient fixation to the bone may be shortened.

The dental application of Zolidd will be further investigated in the clinic.
